The English Cake Lady is a local Amsterdam business in Oud-Zuid supplying beautiful and delicious freshly-baked and handmade cakes, cupcakes and cookies for all occasions. My cupcake range runs to 24 flavours from well-loved classics such as Vanilla and Chocolate, to national favourites like Red Velvet or Bakewell Tart, and also speciality dessert-style cupcakes such as Tiramisu or Strawberry Cheesecake. Most of the cupcake range also come in mini-cupcake size, ideal for creche treats, or office events.
Orders can be placed our Order Page or emailed to lucie@englishcakelady.com I’ll confirm your email has been received and reply when I’m not baking. To avoid any mistakes, no order is accepted until the confirmation email is received and price and delivery date and location is confirmed, that way no-one’s disappointed.
The cupcakes: English Cake Lady cupcakes are baked either the night before delivery or the same day, and filled, frosted and decorated on the day of delivery so they are as fresh as possible. The cupcakes are delivered in one-use disposable cardboard cupcake boxes.
We strongly recommend that cupcakes are stored at room temperature and not refrigerated.
The minimum quantity of a single flavour is 12 standard cupcakes or 24 mini cupcakes; this is because we bake everything fresh to order.
The celebration/birthday cakes: Depending on the decoration required, these are baked 1-2 days before delivery. The cakes are presented on a cake board in a cake box and candles are supplied. As with the cupcakes, please do not refrigerate the cake as the damp conditions in the fridge will spoil the decoration
Notice: please allow 72 hours notice for all cupcake orders, and at least a week for custom birthday/celebration cakes, more notice is very much appreciated as it enables us to plan the work and avoids disappointment if we can’t fit your cake in. As you can understand, once the available slots for a weekend are booked out (and as we haven’t yet worked out how to increase the baking and decorating hours in the day), we won’t be able to accommodate you. So if little Johnny’s birthday is on 8th August, please don’t leave it ’til the 1st to contact us Of course we’ll do our very best to fulfil orders placed with less notice; if we can do it, these will incur a surcharge of 20% on published prices.
Cancellation: accepted orders for cupcakes can be cancelled at no charge up to 72 hours before the agreed delivery time. Accepted orders for custom birthday cakes can be cancelled up to five days before the agreed delivery time. If no delivery time was specified, noon on the delivery date will be used to calculate the cancellation period. Any cancellations later than these specified will be charged in full as the ingredients will have beenbought, kitchen time paid for, and (possibly) other work turned away: thanks for understanding.
Prices: depend principally upon the complexity of the shape and decorations required as well as the number of people the cake serves: time = labour = money. If you want a 3-D Noah’s Ark cake with ALL the animals in detailed sugarpaste, expect to pay quite a bit more than for a chocolate layer cake with a simple ganache icing. But as a guide, prices for a simply decorated square or round cake for 10 people start at €60 excl. 9% BTW.
Payment: can be made to a Dutch or UK bank account, or using PayPal from another PayPal account or with a credit card. Kosher invoices/receipts provided with all orders of course. Payment terms are 15 days, please don’t forget to add 9% BTW!
Delivery: Prices include delivery within Oud-Zuid, Oud-West, De Baarsjes, Jordaan, Westerpark, Centrum, De Pijp, Rivierenbuurt and Oost districts of Amsterdam. Other Amsterdam districts or Amstelveen incur a surcharge, please contact me directly for other delivery addresses, or you can always pick up from Cake Central.
Privacy Policy and GDPR: The English Cake Lady takes your privacy and personal data just as seriously as any company, we just don’t have the lawyers to write up legal agreements like they do. The only Personally Identifiable Information, PII, we require is what we need to deliver and charge for cakes; contact names and numbers and email address. That information is processed in Google Gmail, Calendar, Contacts and Drive, (Google Privacy Policy), secured with Two Factor Authentication and accessed on a password protected and encrypted computer.
